Discoverably
Documentation
Discoverably asks your tracked questions of each AI engine on a schedule, records the answers and the sources they returned, and computes every metric from those records. This section documents how, in enough detail that you can check our work.
Every metric entry names the same four things: what it measures, exactly what it counts and what it divides by, which direction is good, and when it shows n/a instead of a number.
Getting started
What your first report is, and how to set up ongoing tracking.
How we measure
The rules that apply to every metric: which questions they are measured on, how many answers it takes before a number means something, and how a period is calculated.
- Non-branded scopeCompetitive metrics are measured by default on questions that name neither you nor a competitor you track.
- Stability and samplingWhy one answer is a sample rather than a verdict, how many it takes to trust a number, and what the small-sample chip means.
- How periods are calculatedA period's number is recomputed from the underlying counts, never averaged from smaller percentages.
- Data history and retentionMetrics are kept for the life of your account; the detailed evidence behind them for 14 months.
- Competitor families and nested brandsHow we count a competitor that contains another competitor without double-counting either.
The metrics
One entry per metric, each with its counting rule and denominator.
- VisibilityThe percentage of AI answers that mention your brand.
- Share of VoiceOf all the times AI answers name you or a competitor you track, the percentage that name you.
- InfluenceOf the answers that drew on web sources, the percentage where one of those sources is your website.
- Grounding rateThe percentage of answers that returned sources.
- PositionWhen an answer names several of the brands you track, where yours lands in that order.
- ProminenceHow far into an answer your first mention lands.
- Mentions per answerThe average number of times an answer that mentions you actually names you.
- SentimentThe tone of the language AI uses about your brand, scored 0 to 100 on every answer that mentions you.
- Source shareOf all the source links AI answers returned, the percentage that point to your websites.
- Sources: Used, Linked, and Avg. links per answerThe counts we keep for every domain an engine retrieves alongside its answers.
