Tracking competitors

The competitive set you choose is the set your share numbers are measured against.

What it is

Your competitors in Discoverably are the brands you choose to be scored against: the tracked set. Share of Voice and Position are measured against this set and nothing else, so what you choose here decides what those two numbers mean.

Suggestions arrive already selected when you set up; remove the ones that don't belong and add any we missed. The set is not permanent: you can change or clear it in Settings at any time.

Why it works this way

A complete competitor list is what keeps the share numbers honest. The comparison set is only the competitors you have added, not every brand on the internet, so a rival you leave out is a rival your numbers cannot see.

Tracking a competitor also shows you which of them appear in the answers that skip you, the brands AI recommends instead, and how AI's tone about them compares: Sentiment is computed the same way for every competitor you track, so tone is comparable side by side.

Some competitors contain others, a whole organization and one part of it. That nesting is handled without double-counting either brand.
